This week’s top deeptech investment trends.
📅 Tuesday, June 24, 2025 | Deep dives for today’s smart investors.
Your 3-minute shortcut to uncover $1B deeptech bets before they go mainstream.
Welcome to this week’s edition of Deeptech Edge Weekly.
I write this for over 8,000 investors and operators who want real signal, not recycled headlines. If you’re new here, I keep it tight and tactical. Just what I’d want to know if I were investing today.
This Week’s Edge: Deeptech Just Hit a New Inflection Point
Humanoids, photonic chips, fusion, and robotic logistics. These aren't niche R&D projects anymore. They're raising real capital, closing factory deals, and hitting 3-digit ARR growth. Here's what I'm tracking this week.
Wandercraft’s $75M Humanoid Robotics Push
From rehab clinics to Renault’s factory floor
Wandercraft just raised $75 million to take its self-balancing exoskeletons and humanoid robots from healthcare into industrial automation. They’re now working directly with Renault, which is a huge vote of confidence for European robotics.
What gets me excited is that this move proves humanoid robotics are ready for commercial use, not just pilot programs.
Startup Spotlight: Wandercraft, based in Paris, is reshaping both how we rehabilitate patients and how we build cars.
💡 What I’d Do:
I always track partnerships between robotics startups and big industrial players. These usually come right before mass adoption and follow-on funding rounds.
A Photonic Chip That Mimics 41 Million Neurons
The edge AI revolution just got hardware
A stealth-mode startup has developed a photonic chip that simulates 41 million neurons. That’s a massive leap for neuromorphic edge AI. It’s ultra-fast and uses minimal power, exactly what industries need to scale localized AI without melting their energy budgets.
This could challenge Nvidia’s dominance in a very real way.
Startup Spotlight: I can’t name them yet, but this stealth photonic hardware team is one of the most promising in the neuromorphic space.
💡 What I’d Do:
I track neuromorphic and photonic breakthroughs in top journals before they hit TechCrunch. That’s where I usually spot companies 6–12 months before their funding rounds.
Proxima Fusion Raises €130M: Europe’s Biggest Private Fusion Round
Fusion funding is heating up fast
Proxima Fusion just closed a €130 million Series A. That’s the largest private fusion round in Europe. They’re commercializing stellarator-based fusion and already lining up global partnerships.
This is a turning point. Fusion isn’t just science fiction anymore it’s attracting serious investors looking for long-term, high-impact bets.
Startup Spotlight: Proxima Fusion, based in Munich, is leading the charge on stellarators with real capital and real execution power.
💡 What I’d Do:
I subscribe to fusion patent alerts and watch EU energy grant programs. These are usually the best early signals of where VC capital is heading next.
Nomagic’s 220% ARR Growth in Eastern Europe
Poland’s robotics scene is exploding
Nomagic is scaling at 220% ARR and just raised €41.5 million to expand across European warehouses. They’re building AI-powered picking and logistics robots that are already powering supply chains.
Eastern Europe is no longer just a place to outsource R&D. It’s building some of the continent’s most promising robotics startups.
Startup Spotlight: Nomagic, based in Poland, is quietly becoming a market leader in robotic logistics.
💡 What I’d Do:
I look through CEE-focused VC reports and follow local accelerators like Startup Wise Guys and EIT RIS. These often highlight high-growth robotics teams before they’re known outside the region.
