🌌 Off-Radar Play: The $5B Space Trash Problem You Can Own Early
Your Weekly Shortcut to Deeptech Investing — Trends, Startup Intel & Investor Playbooks for VCs & Angels in 5 Minutes or Less
Here’s a space niche most people are missing: cleaning up space junk. It may sound niche, but it’s expected to become a $5B+ market by 2030 with very few players in the game right now.
Swiss startup ClearSpace raised $25M in early 2025 to build AI-powered robots that remove debris from orbit. Even more importantly, they’re working directly with the European Space Agency (ESA) — a huge trust signal. This space is backed by governments and comes with long-term contracts and high switching costs.
What I’d do:
Consider placing a small bet (5%) on startups backed by ESA or national agencies.
Always ask for demo footage — ClearSpace’s orbital test in 2026 could be a big milestone.
Don’t miss Space Tech Expo Europe (Bremen, November), it's one of the best places to spot early-stage deeptech before institutional capital floods in.
