Why I’m Investing in Quantum Now

Quantum technology is no longer just a research frontier. I’m seeing it evolve into a serious enabler across sectors—from ultra-secure communication to advanced simulation. While most investors are still waiting for the headlines, I’m already watching the infrastructure being built behind the scenes.

What got me interested wasn’t a theoretical whitepaper. It was the growing number of early-stage pilots. I’ve tracked quantum startups working with national defense agencies, global banks, and energy companies. That’s not science fiction. That’s commercial traction.

I believe this is one of the most asymmetric opportunities in deeptech today.

What Makes This Moment Different

The global quantum market is on track to reach $65 billion by 2030. But that headline doesn’t tell the whole story.

Yes, quantum computing still faces technical and scalability challenges. But that’s not where I’m placing my early bets. I’m focused on quantum sensing and quantum communication, which are already delivering real-world results.

Pharma companies are running simulations to accelerate drug discovery. Mining companies are testing gravity sensors in the field. Banks are looking to quantum encryption for next-generation cybersecurity. This is no longer about potential. It’s about actual deployment.

The Three Segments I’m Watching Closely

1. Quantum Computing

Quantum computing is the long play. It leverages physics to solve problems that classical machines can’t solve—like molecular simulation or optimization at scale. I’m tracking startups like Pasqal, Quantinuum, and QuEra, which are taking credible steps toward commercialization. Their systems are being tested in cloud environments and research collaborations. I’m not investing here yet, but I’m watching for key inflection points.

2. Quantum Sensing

This is where I’ve seen the most traction. Sensing technologies are showing up in navigation without GPS, in mining with subsurface scanning, and in medical imaging. Companies like Qnami and Muon Solutions have real pilots running. That’s where I see near-term returns. I consider this the entry point for quantum commercialization.

3. Quantum Communication

Quantum Key Distribution and secure quantum networks are a major priority for governments. I’m seeing demand from central banks, telecom providers, and critical infrastructure players. Europe and Asia are leading the infrastructure push. I’ve been tracking companies like QuintessenceLabs that are building systems that work outside of the lab.

Who Else Is Getting In Early

I’m not the only one watching this shift.

  • Quantonation is the first VC fund focused entirely on quantum. They’ve backed more than 20 companies.

  • The Venture Collective and Seraphim Capital are moving early into sensing and hybrid software layers.

  • On the public side, DARPA, UKRI, the European Quantum Flagship, and Singapore’s NRF are funding infrastructure and R&D at scale.

These are the kinds of signals I use to validate that I’m not betting alone and that the ecosystem has real staying power.

Startups Already on My Watchlist

Here’s a preview of the startups I’ve been tracking in my premium due diligence work:

  • Pasqal (France): Neutral atom hardware, recently merged with Qu&Co, and secured a major energy pilot with EDF

  • Q-CTRL (Australia): Building developer tools for quantum systems, partnered with NASA, gaining open-source traction

  • Multiverse Computing (Spain): Quantum software tailored for logistics and finance, already working with BBVA and Repsol

Inside the full guide, I break down the team, funding, customer pipeline, and what I’m personally watching in each.

What You’ll Get When You Upgrade

If you unlock the full version of this Quantum Briefing, here’s what I’ll walk you through:

• Market size and commercial maturity breakdowns across each quantum vertical
• Key startup watchlist with strategic investors, rounds, and risk signals
• Valuation benchmarks by stage including pre-seed, seed, and Series A
• The full F A S T Filter I use for quantum startup due diligence
• Government funding paths you can co-ride including EU, DARPA, national grants
• Exclusive access to my Quantum Watchlist 2025 PDF with 15 companies and funding data

This isn’t an explainer. It’s the same playbook I use to assess deeptech investments in quantum and beyond.

Why Timing Matters

This market is accelerating faster than it looks. Big tech firms are staffing quantum divisions. Governments are unlocking capital. Startups are launching pilots—not theories.

You don’t need to be the first investor in. But being early before traditional funds and institutions price you out can change your risk profile and return potential entirely.

That’s the edge I’m building. And that’s what this guide gives you.
